Some colours...

Pencilled comic panel.
Another moment of fun with Krita: I've thrown some colours on the first panel of page 237.

Bruges Beer Festival (with comics)

The tenth edition of the Bruges Beer Festival (this weekend) has picked comics as art form to host. If you ask me: Santa came early this year! :-) I’m really looking forward to signing your copy of Per'Bat and tasting beer this Saturday.
This is the ex-libris I’ve made for the occasion:
Coloured image.
It’s my first attempt at doing something with Krita, an Open Source free painting program. I’m extremely impressed by the program, even if I probably didn’t even scratch the surface of its features. It has a really well thought out approach to layers (being able to lock both the layer as a whole to avoid accidentally doing something with it, and locking the alpha only), with a handy approach to masks and adjustment layers, grouping layers (and grouping them again and again and again; heaven for a layer junkie like me). The brush model looks extremely powerful, but I must admit that I spent a lot of time just trying to find a way to simple smudging, so maybe a bit too advanced for me. It has more colour management settings than I’ll probably ever need, but I feel that an art program cannot be taken seriously if it doesn’t take colour management seriously. (Everybody has their own silly ways to judge software, eh?)
A bit heavy for my machine, but still, I like the program a lot and I’m planning to invest time learning it some more.
P.S. I’m very sorry about the hiatus on Per'Bat. I’ve written myself in a corner timing wise, and I need to puzzle my way out of it before I can continue. But I think I’m almost there.
